…the two Yuan-ti Malison left the courtyard, leaving Pix alone. He levitated back to the roof, and gave the all-clear for the Regulators to descend down. Thaminor secured his rope of climbing, and they began to make their way down one by one (Fell didn’t fall!), with Leo flying down last.
The Regulators regrouped, and moved north. Past the curving hallway and between two staircases, the twenty-foot-wide hallway led to two massive double doors… weird, since their distance placed them where they should connect to the outside, but the outside had no doors at all. Thaminor opened a door, and in fact did find that it led to the outside… which Pix promptly walked through. Turning around, he saw a solid wall behind him once more. Unable to walk back in, Pix began the journey of levitating back inside. While waiting for Pix, Shady and Molish checked out the small rooms to the side of the doors. What was probably once guard rooms now only held dust, spiderwebs, and a broken chair.
Once Pix returned, the Regulators proceeded down the eastern curving corridor. The first door opened to a once-ornate dining hall. Sitting at the table near them were two Yuan-ti Malisons (Type 1). As they exclaimed and rose from their chairs, Pix charged in to introduce himself, “Hi! I’m Pix Wimbee!” “You’re dead!” would’ve been the only response, judging by the glares he received as they rose and attacked! A Yuan-ti Malison (Type 3) from further down the hall transformed into a full giant snake and slithered up the hall to engage a few moments before two more Yuan-ti Malisons (Type 1) came down the stairs and entered the fray as well! The five monstrosities were no match, however, against our party. The snake-kin bodies were pulled into the dining hall so as to not draw attention, and the Regulators continued southwest down the curving hall.
A ten foot hallway to the east also led to the outside, but Pix opted to not step outside this time. The first door after that hall led to the palace garderobes. Further down the hall, Thaminor opened the door and entered the palace kitchens. Attempts to engage in discourse with the Yuan-ti Pureblood inside were cut short when she charged Thaminor and he stopped her with a grapple. When she attempted to scream an alert, the high elf shoved his fingers down her throat. With their captor immobilized, the two Chultan human slaves also in the room charged and stabbed the Pureblood repeatedly in her back. Thaminor dropped the body to the floor, and the Regulators learned what they could from the slaves before they took their chance and ran for their freedom.
Across the wide southern hall, Thaminor found the most ornate double doors yet, adorned in filigreed gold. Inside, once-elaborate tapestries covered the walls, faded and torn. A metal trough stood near their end of the great room, with some rotting food. Two creatures rose from beds of straw. They were emaciated and had no skin or hair, covered in tough scales that gave off a faint odor of rotting flesh. Their eyes were bloodshot and small and they had forked tongues, which constantly flicked in and out of mouths filled with dull, yellowed, hooked teeth. They had thin fingers that ended in sharp black claws, which were being flexed as if being stretched in anticipation of immediate use…
